CHANDIGARH, Aug. 28 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday announced that he, his Cabinet colleagues, and all Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators will donate one month’s salary to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-hit areas of the state.
Mann said the decision was taken collectively as a gesture of solidarity with people affected by heavy rains and floods. “Punjab has suffered significant losses due to nature’s fury, and this is a time when all Punjabis must come together to support each other,” he noted.
The Chief Minister said the contribution would be directed toward relief measures for families who have lost homes, crops, and livelihoods. “I, along with my ministers and AAP MLAs, am contributing one month’s salary to aid and support those affected by the floods,” Mann stated. “The state government and administration are fully committed to bail out the people in this hour of crisis.”
The announcement comes as the state continues to grapple with widespread damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and housing caused by recurring monsoon floods.
Officials said the government is coordinating with district administrations to ensure aid reaches the worst-hit areas.
Over 60 villages are submerged across seven districts, and more than 300 schools have been affected, and damaged.
