Malwa, April 4: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann conducted an unannounced inspection of the Advanced Cancer Institute at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) on Saturday, pledging to transform the facility into a premier global healthcare hub. During the visit, the Chief Minister directed a comprehensive modernization of the institute’s infrastructure and technology to better serve the Malwa region.

The state government intends to introduce robotic surgery and significantly increase the workforce to address current personnel shortages. Mann stated that the primary objective of his visit was to support the institution’s growth and identify immediate requirements for patient care.

“The Advanced Cancer Institute at BFUHS will be equipped with world-class facilities,” the Chief Minister affirmed. He noted that while the hospital currently provides essential services, the new initiative aims to elevate it to the top tier of healthcare providers in Punjab.

Addressing the operational needs, Mann acknowledged that the facility is currently understaffed. He asserted that prompt action will be taken to recruit more manpower in the interest of the public.

“Robotic surgery will also be introduced in this apex hospital so as to benefit patients in a big way,” Mann declared. He maintained that no effort would be spared in ensuring the latest medical advancements are available to the citizens.

The Chief Minister also reminded the public that treatment at the institute remains accessible through the Ayushman card and the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, reaffirming the government’s commitment to quality healthcare for all.
