Chandigarh, Jan 16: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated on Friday that it was a distinct honor for the state to host President Droupadi Murmu during her official tour of Amritsar. The Chief Minister noted that the President expressed deep appreciation for the local culture and the unique culinary traditions she experienced during her stay.
In a public social media statement, the Chief Minister mentioned the significant impact of the visit on the state’s cultural pride. “We had the privilege of extending warm hospitality to the Honorable President of India, Her Excellency Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji, during her visit to Punjab, at Sri Amritsar Sahib,” the Chief Minister noted.

The President’s itinerary included a keynote address at the Guru Nanak Dev University convocation on Thursday, where she focused on youth empowerment and the spiritual teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Beyond the formal ceremonies, she took time to experience the traditional flavors of the region. Mann mentioned that she relished authentic Punjabi cuisine and found the hospitality of the people to be exemplary.

According to the Chief Minister, the President also recognized the state government’s ongoing initiatives to protect and promote the region’s historical legacy. “She commended the Punjab Government for its efforts in preserving Punjabi heritage and culture, as well as for the exemplary Punjabi hospitality,” Mann directly said in his post.

While weather conditions later led to the cancellation of her Jalandhar leg, the Amritsar visit was seen as a successful engagement.
