Muktsar, Feb 10: Lakhvir Singh, 52, was part of a police team heading to Warring village on Monday morning to capture a proclaimed offender when he suffered a fatal heart attack. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 am, just as the large-scale police crackdown was gaining momentum. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to confirm the exact medical cause, though preliminary reports suggest a cardiac arrest.
“I have been told that our colleague died of a heart attack,” DIG Sanjeev Kumar Rampal directly said, adding that the department would ensure the bereaved family receives financial aid according to government regulations.
The operation involved a significant mobilization of 500 district police members and an additional 150 personnel from outside the district. SSP Abhimanyu Rana mentioned that 22 nakas were set up to monitor movement across the region.
“The operation that began early in the morning on Monday will last for 72 hours,” the SSP noted, confirming that dozens of arrests have already been made. Despite the loss of their colleague, the teams remained deployed across the district to complete the scheduled three-day sweep.
