Chandigarh, November 19, 2025: The Punjab government has sent 649 teachers, headmasters, and principals abroad for training, aiming to modernize education and school leadership across the state.

A total of 216 teachers completed advanced teaching programs in Finland, 234 principals and education officers trained in Singapore, and 199 headmasters attended leadership programs at IIM Ahmedabad.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains dispatched the third batch of 72 teachers to the University of Turku in Finland this month, bringing the total Finland-trained teachers to 216. Previous batches completed training in October 2024 and March 2025. These teachers, including Block Primary Education Officers, Centre Head Teachers, and ETT teachers, are implementing Finland’s student-focused teaching methods in Punjab classrooms.

Meanwhile, headmasters attending IIM Ahmedabad programs focused on school management, strategic leadership, and innovation in education. The fourth batch completed training in November, and a fifth batch is scheduled for December, which will bring the total number of trained headmasters to 249.

The 234 principals trained in Singapore received programs on modern school administration and innovation-driven leadership. They are now driving administrative reforms in state schools.

The selection of educators for training was merit-based and overseen by a five-member committee. Trained teachers and principals now act as ‘Master Trainers,’ sharing modern, student-centric methods with peers, aiming to improve classroom culture and learning outcomes.

Officials said the initiative has already impacted teacher autonomy, collaborative learning, and socio-emotional development, marking a step toward future-ready schools in Punjab.
