CHANDIGARH, Aug. 18 — The Punjab government has extended its One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme for clearing outstanding property taxes until August 31, 2025, giving property owners additional time to pay their dues with reduced financial burden.
Cabinet minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said on Sunday that the scheme, which was originally set to conclude on August 15, would remain open for another two weeks. “The new deadline of August 31 allows property owners to clear pending or partially paid property taxes without interest penalties,” he noted.
The OTS initiative, applicable on both total pending tax and partially paid amounts, enables taxpayers to settle arrears with a waiver on interest and penalty charges. Those who complete payment by the revised deadline will benefit from this exemption.
Dr. Singh cautioned that property owners failing to avail of the scheme by August 31 would face punitive action. “After the deadline, a 50% penalty will be imposed on any outstanding amount,” he said.
Officials added that the extension is aimed at encouraging compliance while providing relief to households and businesses struggling to meet their tax obligations.
