Chandigarh, September 5: Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal on Friday announced that families who lost loved ones in the recent floods in Punjab will be offered permanent jobs at Lovely Professional University (LPU), providing a chance for long-term support amid the crisis.

Speaking on the initiative, Mittal said, “The 43 lives lost are not just numbers—they are real people whose families are grieving. Punjab has always stood strong in times of crisis, and it is our duty to support the people of the state in the same spirit.”

In addition to the job announcement, Mittal contributed ₹20 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid government flood relief efforts. He praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his team for establishing 196 relief camps and rescuing over 20,000 people safely.

The LPU administration will reach out to each affected family personally. Families who have not yet been contacted have been urged to come forward so assistance can be extended promptly. “This initiative is about more than money; it is about long-term support, local jobs, and caring for people during hard times,” Mittal said.

Officials emphasized that the effort reflects a hands-on approach to leadership. By opening his resources and institutions, Mittal is providing direct assistance to flood-affected families, demonstrating a commitment to relief and recovery beyond words.

“Through this step, 43 families will receive real help, and the people of Punjab will see that the Aam Aadmi Party works for relief, support, and practical solutions, not just promises,” a party spokesperson said.
