Amritpal Singh, better known by the alias Amrit Dalam, was apprehended through a collaborative effort between the Punjab Police and central agencies.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the individual faces numerous serious criminal charges within the state and remained a fugitive for an extended duration while hiding in foreign jurisdictions. The DGP maintained that the arrest resulted from consistent international cooperation and rigorous follow-up with global law enforcement partners.

Government authorities are currently managing the legal and diplomatic frameworks necessary to facilitate his return. The DGP affirmed that procedures are underway to secure either extradition or deportation to ensure the suspect faces the legal system in India.

This development aligns with broader efforts by the Overseas Fugitive Tracking Cell. The specialized unit currently monitors 61 fugitives residing in various nations.
