CHANDIGARH, February 28, 2026: In solidarity with the families of fallen security personnel, Punjab Cabinet Ministers Lal Chand Kataruchak and Laljit Singh Bhullar visited the village of Gadarian on Saturday to pay respects to martyr ASI Gurnam Singh. The ministers conveyed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s assurance that the state stands firmly with the bereaved and announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹1 crore along with a government job for an eligible family member.

Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak affirmed that the sacrifice of ASI Gurnam Singh and Ashok Kumar, who were killed while on duty at the Adhiya outpost, would not go in vain. He stated that the attack was a cowardly attempt to disturb the peace of Punjab. The Minister maintained that the state would ensure the strictest possible punishment for those responsible, noting that “ISI-backed conspiracies to destabilize Punjab will never succeed on our soil.”

The swift action of the Punjab Police was highlighted during the visit, with Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar noting that all accused were apprehended within 24 hours of the incident. He asserted that this rapid response sends a clear message to those engaging in illegal activities. The Minister declared that the government remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drugs and gangsterism.

“The loss of a family member can never be compensated, but the Punjab Government stands ready to provide every possible assistance,” Bhullar stated. He noted that the financial support and employment offer are part of the Chief Minister’s directive to honor the bravery of the state’s police force.

Aman Sher Singh Sherry Kalsi, Batala MLA and party Working President, also addressed the media, stating that hostile agencies are constantly attempting to vitiate the atmosphere in the border state. He maintained that the government is working day and night to eliminate crime at its roots and criticized opposition parties for politicizing such tragedies instead of recognizing the successes of the police force.
