Punjab Government Appoints New Head for Vigilance Bureau

Chandigarh, 17 February 2025: The Punjab Government announced a leadership change in the state’s Vigilance Bureau on Monday, replacing Special Director General of Police (DGP) Varinder Kumar with ADGP (Provisioning) G Nageswara Rao.

In a formal order, the government relieved Kumar of his duties and assigned him to report directly to the Punjab DGP. Kumar, who had served as the head of the Vigilance Bureau since May 2022, will transition to his new role. The reshuffle follows a strategic decision aimed at strengthening the Bureau’s operations.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Government mentioned, “The shift in leadership will bring fresh perspectives to the Vigilance Bureau’s operations, ensuring greater accountability and transparency.”
