CHANDIGARH, Feb 21 — The first session of the JEE Main 2026 has seen 305 students from Punjab’s government schools successfully qualify for the next stage, Education Minister Harjot Bains announced on Saturday. The results represent a substantial increase from the previous year’s performance, when 187 students from the state’s public education system cleared the same session.
The Education Minister stated that the achievement reflects a rising standard of instruction within the state’s government-run institutions. He affirmed that the tally of successful candidates is expected to grow once the results of the second attempt are finalized.
Many of the qualifying students hail from humble backgrounds, according to the minister. In the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency alone, five students from local government schools cleared the prestigious entrance examination.
Bains attributed the success to the state’s ‘PACE’ coaching portal, which provided specialized training to the aspirants. He declared that the results serve as a testament to the effective implementation of educational reforms in Punjab.
