Dhuri (Sangrur), 23 November 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday handed over checks worth ₹71 crore for development of 142 villages and towns historically connected to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, marking a key initiative ahead of the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Sikh Guru.

Speaking at the check distribution ceremony, Mann said the government’s effort was a humble tribute to Guru Sahib Ji’s sacrifice and philosophy. “These efforts are very small compared to Guru Sahib Ji’s martyrdom, great life and philosophy, but the Punjab government is fulfilling its duty as devotion and respect towards Guru Sahib Ji,” he said.

The grants are aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing facilities for the congregation (sangat), beautifying paths to holy sites, and supporting other essential development works. Mann described the initiative as an “important and historic step” for promoting Guru Sahib Ji’s sites and providing better facilities to devotees.

Checks were handed to sarpanchs, councillors, and elected representatives from Malwa, Doaba, and Majha regions. Mann urged people to follow the path of humanity set by Guru Sahib Ji, noting that his message of peace, love, and brotherhood remains relevant in today’s global context.

The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing celebrations, including multiple Nagar Kirtans departing from Srinagar, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, and Talwandi Sabo, which will converge in Sri Anandpur Sahib on 22 November. He assured that arrangements including ambulances, langar, digital museums, and tent cities like ‘Chak Nanaki’ have been made for devotees’ convenience.

Mann further detailed programs from 25 October, including Kirtan Darbars in Delhi, district-wide light and sound shows, exhibitions, drone shows, inter-faith conferences, and state-level blood donation camps, culminating in large-scale gatherings under the ‘Sarbat Da Bhala Ekatta’ initiative.
