Chandigarh, Jan 12: The Punjab Government on Monday introduced ‘E-Sanad’, a digital platform designed to automate the verification and authentication of educational documents. This initiative aims to eliminate the traditional 45-day waiting period, allowing students and alumni of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) to secure verified marksheets and certificates within a few days.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains noted that the paperless system is available for all former and current students requiring credentials for employment or higher studies. He mentioned that the integration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) ensures that documents are authenticated for both Hague Convention countries via Apostille and non-Hague nations through standard attestation.
“E-Sanad will reduce verification time from 40-45 days to just a few days,” Bains directly said. He noted that the shift ensures greater transparency and efficiency while ending the need for long queues and manual paperwork.
PSEB Chairman Dr Amarpal Singh mentioned that the entire process has been shifted online to prevent unnecessary visits to board offices. He noted that the official website now hosts the portal link and an integrated payment gateway to facilitate seamless transactions for applicants.
The move is expected to significantly enhance the global credibility of PSEB certificates. By adopting a digital-first approach, the state government aims to support thousands of students who previously faced delays in pursuing overseas opportunities due to lengthy embassy legalisation processes.
