Chandigarh, Dec. 22, 2025 — Punjab’s fourth Mega Parents Teachers Meeting (PTM) and Parents’ Workshop recorded participation from more than 23.30 lakh parents, making it one of the largest parent engagement initiatives undertaken by the state’s School Education Department.

The state-wide exercise was conducted across government schools, with MLAs, senior officers and education officials visiting more than 7,500 schools to assess academic standards and interact with parents and teachers.

School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains presided over the Mega PTM at Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Sri Anandpur Sahib, while AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia attended the event at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Paddi Sura Singh, in Hoshiarpur district. Secretary School Education Anindita Mitra, Director SCERT Kiran Sharma, deputy commissioners and other senior officials also took part.

Bains said the initiative reflected the state government’s focus on strengthening public education under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. “Through structured parent engagement under the theme ‘Maa Peyo di Bhagidari,’ we are building stronger partnerships between schools and families,” he said.

According to the Education Department, more than 40,000 teachers — at least one from each government school — were trained at block and cluster levels to conduct Parents’ Workshops in a structured format.

Trained teachers facilitated interactive sessions, while School Management Committee members coordinated parent mobilisation and on-ground arrangements. The workshops covered students from pre-primary to senior secondary levels, making it one of the largest parent education drives in the state.

The minister said the workshops and PTMs, held over 1 to 1.5 hours, followed a common design and were supported by parent handouts. The objective was to strengthen parents’ understanding of their role in children’s academic, emotional and social development.

Bains said the initiative would improve student outcomes by enhancing coordination between home and school, encouraging regular attendance, academic support and student well-being.
