Sri Anandpur Sahib/Chandigarh, Jan 19: Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate strict legal and administrative action against those responsible for circulating a fabricated video intended to insult Sikh religious sentiments.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader identified BJP’s Kapil Mishra as a key figure in propagating the clip, which falsely portrayed former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi making derogatory remarks about Sikh Gurus.
Forensic evaluations conducted in both Punjab and Delhi have confirmed that the footage was maliciously edited.
Kang noted that scientific reports from the Forensic Science Laboratories conclusively prove the remarks were never uttered, labeling the circulation of the video a calculated effort to incite communal tension for political leverage.
“This is not a mistake or misjudgment,” Kang said in his letter to the Prime Minister.
“This is a conscious act of deception that strikes at the very core of Sikh faith and values.”
He further mentioned that using the sanctity of the Gurus to extract political mileage constitutes an unforgivable moral crime against a community that has historically served as the nation’s moral backbone.
The timing of the controversy has caused particular distress, occurring as the community observes the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Kang noted that the Guru sacrificed his life for religious freedom, making these deceptive actions a grave transgression.
He urged the Prime Minister to remove Mishra from all positions of authority and publicly denounce the tactics used.
“Strong action will send a clear message that the sanctity of the Gurus is non-negotiable and that no political ambition stands above Dharma,” Kang said.
He added that the Prime Minister’s intervention is necessary to ensure that the ideals of truth and human dignity, for which the Gurus made supreme sacrifices, remain protected.
