Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: The Punjab government has named a major road in the Chabbewal area of Hoshiarpur district as “Dr. Satinder Sartaj Road,” honoring the singer, poet, and Sufi artist for his contributions to Punjabi culture and literature.

“Dr. Sartaj has carried Punjab’s soul to the world through his songs, poetry, and humility,” a government spokesperson said. “This initiative reflects our commitment to celebrating art, culture, and the people who make Punjab proud.”

The official notification, issued by Punjab’s Public Works Department (B&R Branch), comes under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who has championed initiatives promoting education, youth empowerment, and cultural pride. The road renaming is intended not only to honor Sartaj’s achievements but also to inspire the younger generation and connect them with their heritage.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Monday, November 10, at 11 AM at Dana Mandi, Chabbewal. CM Mann will preside over the event, joined by MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar. The Public Works Department (B&R Branch), under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, will organize the ceremony.

The government described the initiative as a symbol of respect for artists and a reaffirmation of Punjab’s cultural identity. “This road will not just be a street, but a symbol of inspiration, respect, and Punjabi pride,” the spokesperson said, noting that Sartaj’s works have resonated both in Punjab and around the world.
