Mohali, March 20 — The Punjab government has generated Rs 792.20 crore from the e-auction of 12 retail liquor clusters for the fiscal year 2025-26, surpassing the reserve price by Rs 242.20 crore.
The remaining single group will be allotted through e-tendering, with the bidding deadline set for March 20, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal said.
The technical and financial bids were opened on March 17 at Mohali Industrial Association (MIA) Bhawan, Industrial Area, Sector 78, SAS Nagar. Of the 13 clusters on offer, 12 were successfully allocated to the highest bidders (H-1). The total reserve price for these clusters was Rs 549.89 crore, but they fetched Rs 792.20 crore—44.06% higher.
Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Ashok Chalhotra said Mohali district’s excise revenue had grown significantly in recent years. “The district’s revenue rose from Rs 235 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 528 crore in the current fiscal (2024-25), marking a 124% increase in three years,” he said. Chalhotra attributed the surge to the state’s excise policies from 2022-23 to 2024-25.
He added that the tender for the New Chandigarh group was cancelled after the technical evaluation committee (TEC) rejected the technical bid. A fresh tender for this group has been issued, with a reserve price of Rs 45.11 crore. Bidding will close on March 20 at 12.05 pm.
