Chandigarh, Jan 6: Punjab Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy from Pathankot for allegedly sharing videos of sensitive locations with Pakistan-based handlers linked to terror networks, police officials said on Monday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pathankot Daljinder Singh Dhillon said the minor had been in contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and gangsters operating terror modules for almost a year.

“The police have arrested Sanjeev Kumar, aged 15, after specific inputs that he was supplying information related to the security of our nation to frontal organisations of terror agencies, including the ISI and Pakistan military officers,” Dhillon told reporters.

According to the police, the teenager was allegedly lured through social media and asked to record and send videos of strategically important locations. Officials said he was also communicating with gangsters based in Pakistan who were part of an organised terror module.

Dhillon said the boy appeared emotionally vulnerable and was influenced by a belief that his father had been murdered — a claim that investigators later found to be unsubstantiated.

“He fell into the trap of Pakistani agencies through social media. He was under the impression that his father had been killed, which affected him mentally. However, the investigation has found no evidence to support that claim,” the SSP said.

Police said the accused had shared multiple videos with his handlers and remained in touch with them over an extended period. “He had been in contact with Pakistan-based terror organisations for almost a year,” Dhillon added.

Further investigation is underway to identify additional links and assess whether any local support network was involved.

The arrest comes amid heightened security action in the border region. Earlier on December 2, Punjab Police, along with central and state agencies, had dismantled an ISI-backed terror module connected to a grenade attack in Gurdaspur.

DIG Border Range Sandeep Goyal had said the module was planning multiple attacks aimed at creating communal tension. “The network was led by terrorist Shahzad Bhatti along with Zeeshan Akhtar and Amandeep Singh alias Aman Pannu,” Goyal had said, adding that a second planned strike was foiled with the arrest of two operatives and recovery of weapons.
