Chandigarh, April 13: Punjab Police arrested two operatives of a terror module and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) containing 1.6 kg of RDX in a major counterterror operation, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.
Jagga Singh and Manjinder Singh, the arrested suspects, were described as key operatives of a module being run by Germany-based Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon—an associate of the Goldy Brar–Lawrence Bishnoi network.
“In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur arrests Jagga Singh and Manjinder Singh, key operatives of a terror module operated by Germany-based Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon, a close operative of Goldy Brar–Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and foils plans of Pakistan’s ISI to disturb peace and harmony in the region,” Yadav posted on X.
Police recovered a 2.8 kg IED containing 1.6 kg of RDX along with a remote control device from the duo.
According to the DGP, preliminary investigation indicates that the explosive was meant for a targeted terror attack. Further interrogation and investigation are underway to determine the full scope of the plot.
