Jalandhar, August 28: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann handed over appointment letters to one thousand seven hundred and forty-six newly recruited constables today at the PAP Ground, marking the latest expansion of the state police force. The Chief Minister declared during the ceremony that total government appointments across various departments have reached seventy thousand eight hundred and forty under transparent, merit-based selection procedures.
The newly inducted personnel join a state force that has added thirteen thousand ninety-two members over recent years, with processing underway to recruit an additional three thousand two hundred and ninety-eight constables.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that selection procedures operate strictly without financial or external influence, affirming that merit remains the sole criterion for public service recruitment.
To support career advancement within the force, the state government authorized sixteen hundred new district-cadre promotion positions, comprising one hundred and fifty Inspectors, four hundred and fifty Sub-Inspectors, and one thousand Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
Addressing the parade, the Chief Minister affirmed that state employees receive competitive remuneration structures designed to support administrative excellence across public services.
Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained that the border state force maintains dedicated vigilance along sensitive international boundaries while combating cross-border crime and drug trafficking networks.
The Chief Minister asserted that specialized initiatives such as the Sadak Surakhya Force have reduced highway accident fatalities by over fifty percent across four thousand two hundred kilometers of key corridors.
Distinguished officials attending the event included Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, and Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
