CHANDIGARH, Jan 2 — The Punjab government has announced a major reshuffle in the police department, promoting several senior officers as a New Year initiative.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department under orders of the Punjab Governor, four senior officers have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General (IG). Additionally, one Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has been elevated to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP).

The promotions are part of a broader effort to strengthen the leadership structure of the Punjab Police. Officials said the changes are aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and operational readiness across the state.
The reshuffle reflects the government’s intent to recognize seniority and performance while ensuring smooth functioning at the top echelons of the police force.
