NEW DELHI, Sept 27, 2025 : At the World Food Fair 2025, Punjab put its AI-powered agriculture and modern food processing technology front and center, drawing international attention. The state’s pavilion became a hub for visitors eager to witness how traditional farming is being reshaped through technology.

Punjab, once known primarily for conventional farming, is now presenting itself as a model for the rest of India. Officials highlighted how artificial intelligence, digital tools, and data analytics are helping farmers double incomes and strengthen rural economies.

“The Smart Agriculture Scheme is designed to make advanced AI and data accessible to every farmer,” said Punjab Agriculture Minister.

“They can track crop health, predict market demand, and optimize production. The result is higher yields, better-quality produce, and lower costs.”

The state is also promoting modernization in food processing. Automation and contemporary equipment have tightened supply chains and improved product quality, offering farmers better returns while allowing processing units to scale quickly.

The impact on Punjab’s farmers is visible. Technology has increased both the shelf life and market value of agricultural products, providing direct access to domestic and international markets. The government noted that this has contributed to rising food exports and solidified Punjab’s position in India’s food economy.

Foreign investors and technology companies showed keen interest at the fair. Experts touring Punjab’s pavilion noted the state’s policy support and opportunities for collaboration, with several expressing plans to explore food processing units and technology partnerships.

Youth and startups are also being drawn into the sector. Government schemes promoting entrepreneurship in agriculture have fueled innovation, created employment, and allowed rural talent to tap into global markets.

Punjab’s focus on sustainable practices and food security has been highlighted as a model approach. Collaborative efforts between agricultural institutions and government bodies have produced stable, high-yield, and sustainable farming methods, which in turn are boosting the state’s overall economy.

The “Punjab Partner State Session” at the fair underscored the government’s intent to involve stakeholders in its agricultural journey.

“We want the world to see how Punjab is transforming farming,” the state government said.

“We are committed to leading in AI-driven agriculture, food processing, and smart farming.”

“With these initiatives, Punjab is not just modernizing its farms; it is actively preaching a vision of AI-driven agriculture to India and the world.”
