CHANDIGARH, Jan 10 – The Punjab Government carried out a significant administrative reshuffle on Saturday, issuing transfer and promotion orders for 22 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers with immediate effect.

A key highlight of the order, issued by the Department of Home Affairs on January 10, is the appointment of Jyoti Yadav as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bathinda. Yadav, who was previously serving as SSP Khanna, is the wife of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. Following her move, Darpan Ahluwalia has been appointed as the new SSP of Khanna.

The reshuffle also sees Maninder Singh taking over as SSP Rupnagar, replacing Gulneet Singh Khurana, who has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

“The orders have been implemented on administrative grounds to strengthen various wings of the state police,” the Department stated in its official communication.

Several high-ranking officers have been reassigned to new roles. Naresh Kumar, formerly Special DGP (Human Rights), will now serve as Special DGP for the Punjab State Human Rights Commission. Amardeep Singh Rai, while continuing as Special DGP (Traffic and Road Safety), has been given the additional responsibility of the Public Grievances Division.

The exercise also included a wave of promotions for the 2011 and 2012 IPS batches. Kaustubh Sharma has been elevated to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) of Human Rights, while Jagadale Nilambari Vijay moves up to Inspector General (IGP) of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).

Other notable promotions include Rajpal Singh as IGP (Crime) and Snehdeep Sharma as DIG of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Ludhiana. Additionally, Sandeep Kumar Garg, Dhruv Dahiya, and Akhil Chaudhary have all been promoted to DIG ranks within specialized units including Intelligence and Counter-Intelligence.
