Punjab Schools to Offer Dual Certification for Vocational Skills

Mohali, Nov 7: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has launched a major initiative to become a dual certificate body under the Government of India’s National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), aiming to strengthen skill-oriented education across the state’s schools.

Dr Amarpal Singh, PSEB chairman, said the move is “a crucial step toward integrating academic learning with skill-based education. The overall focus is to build a robust, skill-oriented ecosystem within Punjab’s schools, thereby equipping students with competencies essential for future employment. This will involve the recognition of academic achievements and certified vocational skills.”

To advance this goal, PSEB signed a memorandum of understanding with the non-profit organization Lend A Hand India (LAHI), which will support the integration of vocational education and NSQF standards.

The partnership is expected to align quality vocational training with industry-recognized credentials, giving students at the secondary level practical skills alongside academic qualifications. Officials noted that this step will help prepare a generation capable of contributing meaningfully to Punjab’s economy while enhancing the overall quality and reach of skill-based education in schools.
