Chandigarh, Dec 25: Punjab continued to face biting cold on Thursday, with Faridkot emerging as the coldest location in the state as temperatures dipped to 4.3 degrees Celsius, according to the local meteorological department.

Dense fog covered large parts of the state during the morning hours, reducing visibility and affecting road movement in several districts.

“Cold and foggy conditions prevailed across most parts of Punjab, particularly during early morning hours,” a meteorological official said. “Night temperatures remained below seasonal averages in several locations.”

Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius, about two degrees above normal. Bathinda and Gurdaspur reported lows of 5.6 and 5.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Ludhiana and Patiala both logged identical minimum temperatures of 6.4 degrees Celsius, while Pathankot recorded a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius.

Weather officials said cold conditions are expected to persist over the next few days, with fog likely during late night and early morning hours in parts of the state.
