CHANDIGARH, July 26 — State health infrastructure received a significant boost as 100 new Aam Aadmi Clinics were dedicated to the public across Punjab under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The addition brings the total functioning count to 1,090 centers, comprising 414 urban and 576 rural facilities dedicated to providing doorstep primary healthcare.
“Aam Aadmi Clinics have brought healthcare services closer to the people, making treatment simple, convenient and affordable. The commissioning of these new clinics enables many more citizens to avail quality services without financial burden,” declared public representatives during the coordinated statewide inaugurations.
The rollout commenced with Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurating the Patiala Rural facility, while public representatives opened 71 centers in different districts. The health department confirmed that the remaining 29 clinics will become operational by July 31.
Focusing on rural and semi-urban coverage, Ministers Hardeep Singh Mundian and Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated multiple facilities in Sahnewal and Khanna built at an expenditure of ₹76.41 lakh and ₹87 lakh respectively. Minister Mohinder Bhagat dedicated three clinics in Jalandhar, while local MLAs led inaugurations in their respective areas.
Health officials affirmed that the digitized system streamlines patient records, consultation, and medicine distribution across all operational locations.
“Each clinic is fully equipped to offer 107 medicines and 47 laboratory tests free of charge, supported by qualified medical officers and clinical staff,” public representatives stated.
The expanded network provides specialized primary care, including routine screenings for chronic diseases, maternal health monitoring, and essential emergency vaccinations, reinforcing the state’s public health delivery framework.
