Punjab Transfers 161 Police Officers in Major Reshuffle

Chandigarh, April 7: The Punjab government on Sunday issued transfer and posting orders for 161 police officers in a significant administrative shake-up, according to an official notification from the home department. Among those moved are 65 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and 11 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.

A total of 96 officers, including a large number of superintendents of police (SPs), are part of the transfer list. The reshuffle affects postings across major districts such as Mohali, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.

The transfer orders include several notable IPS officers. Ravjot Kaur Grewal has been appointed as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Counter Intelligence, Mohali. Ashwani Gotyal has been assigned to the post of AIG, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Vatsala Gupta will serve as Commandant of the 27th Battalion of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP), Jalandhar, while continuing to hold charge as AIG, ANTF Ludhiana.

Among other appointments, Aditya S Warrier has been posted as SP (Detective), Amritsar Rural Police. From the Punjab Police Service (PPS), Parminder Singh Bhandal takes over as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Law and Order, Ludhiana. Rajeshwar Singh assumes charge as Zonal AIG, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Jalandhar.

Additional changes include Karanveer Singh’s posting as Additional DCP-II, Ludhiana, Saurav Jindal as SP (Investigation), Mohali, and Ramandeep Singh as SP, Tariff, Mohali.

A senior official from the home department said the reshuffle was aimed at “streamlining operations and ensuring efficient policing in critical areas.” The official further mentioned that the transfers were part of routine administrative decisions.
