BATHINDA, July 1 — A pall of gloom descended on Bakshi Wala village after news broke that Noblepreet Singh Dhillon, a 26-year-old resident who had been living in Australia for the past six years, died in his sleep under mysterious circumstances.

According to family members, Noblepreet, who had gone to Australia on a student visa in 2019, had recently started his own business there. He had spoken with his father, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon—a retired ASI from Punjab Police—for 45 minutes just a day before his death.

“He was absolutely fine when we spoke. I had no idea that it would be our last conversation,” said the grieving father. Noblepreet was found unresponsive in bed by roommates and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The family has decided to perform his last rites in Australia. “We will travel to Australia once the paperwork is completed,” Gurpreet added.

Ravinder Singh Gill, Sarpanch of Bakshi Wala and a relative of the deceased, confirmed the death. “He passed away in his sleep, according to the boys staying with him,” he said.

The cause of death remains unconfirmed.
