LaSalle, March 5: A 45-year-old woman of Punjabi origin, identified as Nancy Grewal, died following a stabbing in LaSalle on Tuesday night. The Windsor resident, who maintained a presence as a social media commentator, was discovered by emergency responders with critical injuries in the 2400 block of Todd Lane shortly before 9:30 p.m.
The LaSalle Police Service confirmed that Grewal was transported to a local hospital by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services, where she later succumbed to her wounds. While the investigation remains active, officials have sought to provide reassurance to the community regarding the nature of the crime.
“The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal,” the department asserted in a public statement. “To ease public concern, investigators are viewing this as an isolated incident.”
Grewal was recognized for her outspoken commentary on digital platforms, frequently addressing the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. She affirmed her opposition to Khalistani extremism and expressed criticism of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, while also declaring her views on various political and religious figures within Punjab.
Forensic investigators spent Wednesday morning processing two residences on Todd Lane, situated between Canada Street and Bishop Street. Evidence markers were positioned along the stairs and walkway of one home, while a separate wooded area near the Herb Gray Parkway trails was also cordoned off for a secondary search.
This marks the second homicide with a LaSalle connection in early 2026, following the February 18 shooting of a 44-year-old man in Windsor. In that previous case, a suspect was apprehended at a LaSalle residence.
Police have not disclosed whether any arrests have been made in Grewal’s death. Det. Sgt. Jamie Nestor declared that investigators are seeking surveillance footage from the neighborhood to assist in the case.
