CHANDIGARH, JULY 26 — Punjab’s flagship social security initiative, the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, has established a benchmark in digital governance by seamlessly delivering ₹1,149 crore directly to women across the state.
The initiative provides direct financial support to promote economic independence, with payments processed transparently through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts without middleman intervention.
“The best thing about this scheme is that the money comes directly into the accounts of women. I have used the money for meaningful purposes, and my two daughters who are pursuing higher education have also received the benefit,” asserted Suman Kumari, a beneficiary from Sri Hargobindpur.
She noted that combining this financial support with state subsidies for electricity, ration, and public transport has provided substantial economic relief to families.
Echoing similar sentiments, Harpal Kaur from Mandi Ahmedgarh affirmed that the scheme allows women to address personal and family priorities independently.
“Daughters have their own needs, and it is good that the government is supporting them at this stage. The best part is that the money has been transferred directly into our bank accounts through DBT,” she maintained, adding that public funds provided with good intentions ought to be spent responsibly.
Reaffirming the state’s vision, Social Security Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the government remains steadfast in delivering welfare benefits efficiently and on time to every eligible household.
Banking partner Axis Bank declared its commitment to maintaining smooth operations at scale across urban and rural branches.
“When delivered effectively and at scale, such programmes have the ability to strengthen financial security, foster inclusion and transform lives,” stated Reynold D’Souza, Group Head at Axis Bank.
The initiative continues to cover women aged 18 and above, serving as a primary pillar of women-centric social welfare in Punjab.
