Chandigarh, December 7 — Faridkot was the coldest place in Punjab on Saturday as the minimum temperature slipped to 2.5 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Department said.
Several other districts also reeled under a sharp fall in night temperatures. Gurdaspur recorded a low of 5 degrees Celsius, while Amritsar settled at 5.6 degrees. Ludhiana and Patiala reported minimums of 7 and 9 degrees Celsius, and Bathinda dipped to 4.6 degrees. Pathankot recorded 5.2 degrees Celsius.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, registered a minimum of 7.9 degrees Celsius — 2.7 degrees below normal.
In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest at 3.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal. Hisar recorded 4.7 degrees, while Karnal reported 7.5 degrees. Bhiwani and Sirsa settled at 6 and 6.4 degrees Celsius, and Ambala logged a minimum of 9.8 degrees.
