Chandigarh, November 3, 2025: Punjab has recorded a 21.5 per cent increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue up to October this year — three times faster than the national average of around 7 per cent — despite facing major floods and rate rationalisation under the new GST 2.0 structure.

According to official data, the state collected ₹15,683.59 crore in net GST between April and October 2025, compared to ₹12,907.31 crore in the same period last year. The monthly collection for October 2025 rose to ₹2,359.16 crore from ₹2,061.23 crore last October — an increase of ₹298 crore.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the growth reflected improved compliance and stronger enforcement. “Even after floods and a reduction in some tax slabs, Punjab’s revenue continued to rise, showing the results of tighter monitoring and anti-evasion drives,” he said.

Officials attributed the growth to digital oversight, data-driven audits, and stricter field checks. They said post-settlement figures of State GST (SGST) and Integrated GST (IGST) showed Punjab performing better than most neighbouring states except Haryana.

Cheema said nearly half of Punjab’s districts were hit by floods during the year, but trade and industry continued to sustain the tax base.
