Chandigarh, Oct 25: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said his government’s focus on education is driving an “education revolution” in the state, with 118 Schools of Eminence now functioning as hubs of quality learning for students from government schools.

Calling them the “temples of the modern age,” the Chief Minister said the new schools are designed to bridge the gap between rich and poor children, ensuring that every child has access to world-class education. “These schools are not just buildings of brick and stone, but a runway for dreams — helping every student take flight,” Mann noted.

The government has invested ₹231.74 crore in upgrading infrastructure, classrooms and digital facilities at the Schools of Eminence. Each institution, officials said, offers specialized coaching for competitive exams like NEET, JEE, and Armed Forces recruitment, which are typically expensive in private academies.

To improve accessibility, the state is providing free uniforms to students and a free bus service for girls. Parent-Teacher Meetings have also seen record participation, with over 25 lakh parents attending. Senior officers have joined the School Mentorship Program, offering guidance to students across districts.

Chief Minister Mann said the efforts are already yielding results, with 265 students qualifying JEE Mains, 44 clearing JEE Advanced, and 848 students passing NEET this year from government schools.

“This shows that our students are second to none,” Mann said, adding that even some private school students are now enrolling in Schools of Eminence.

The initiative, officials added, aims to make Punjab’s youth not just job seekers but future job creators, equipped with the confidence and skills needed for a changing world.
