New Delhi, Dec. 4 — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday evening began a nearly 27-hour visit to India aimed at reinforcing the decades-long bilateral partnership between the two countries, which has remained steady despite global tensions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Putin at Palam airport with a warm embrace, marking the first Russian presidential visit to India in four years. “It is a pleasure to welcome President Putin to India,” Modi said.

In a gesture of reciprocity for the hospitality extended during Modi’s visit to Moscow in July last year, the Indian prime minister is hosting a private dinner for Putin on Thursday night.

The visit reflects the enduring strategic and diplomatic ties between India and Russia, highlighting the importance both nations attach to continued cooperation amid a complex geopolitical landscape.
