NEW DELHI, Nov 28— Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on December 4-5 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs said Friday.
The visit will allow the two leaders to review progress in bilateral relations, strengthen the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,” and exchange views on regional and global issues, the MEA said.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Both countries are working hard on making this a success. We expect an improvement in ties when President Putin visits.”
President Droupadi Murmu will host a banquet in honour of Putin.
Despite threats from US President Donald Trump to broaden sanctions on Russia, India’s engagement with Moscow appears set for a fresh push. Officials said the two sides will seek to expand cooperation in defence, nuclear power, commercial aviation, and the economy.
Several bilateral agreements may be signed during the visit, including deals on BrahMos missiles, Sukhoi-30MKI upgrades, S-400 air defence systems, and potential domestic production of Sukhoi-57E stealth jets.
