New Delhi, October 20: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday shared a video of himself trying his hand at making ‘imarti’ and ‘besan laddoo’ at the historic Ghantewala sweet shop in Old Delhi, as he extended Diwali greetings to the nation.
Posting the video on X, Gandhi said the true sweetness of Diwali lies not just in the festive ‘thali’, but also in relationships and community. “Tried my hand at making imarti and besan laddoo at the famous and historic Ghantewala sweet shop in old Delhi. The sweetness of this centuries-old, iconic shop remains the same — pure, traditional, and heartwarming,” he wrote.
In the video, the shop owner told Gandhi that the family had served his grandmother, father, and other members, and looked forward to supplying sweets for his marriage in the future. Gandhi smiled at the suggestion before trying his hand at preparing the sweets.
In a separate post, the former Congress president extended greetings to the country, saying: “May India be illuminated with the lamps of joy, may the light of happiness, prosperity, and love spread in every home.”
Gandhi also asked his followers to share how they are making Diwali special, highlighting the spirit of togetherness and tradition.
