NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, APRIL 2: Punjab Congress President and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring faced a sudden microphone disconnection in the Lok Sabha on Thursday while raising the issue of the 2015 sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib. The incident occurred as the MP began citing the role of former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal regarding the decade-long delay in legal proceedings.
Warring stated that the Sikh community has been waiting for justice for eleven years, noting that the culprits behind the desecration and the subsequent police firing remain unpunished.
He affirmed that the events took place during a period when the Shiromani Akali Dal leader held the Home Portfolio in Punjab.
“The Sikhs have been demanding justice for eleven years over the sacrilege of their holy Guru Granth Sahib, but justice has evaded them,” Warring declared during his address. He maintained that successive administrations have failed to take decisive action despite the public record of the events.
Outside the Parliament, the Punjab Congress chief expressed his disappointment, stating that his microphone was cut off while he was presenting documented facts.
He said that his speech did not include personal value judgments but focused on historical records and the killing of two protesters during the 2015 demonstrations.
Warring affirmed that the interruption of his speech would not deter his pursuit of the case. He stated that the lack of accountability for the incidents that occurred under the previous state leadership remains a significant concern for the people of Punjab.
