Bathinda, Feb 15: A coordinated police check in Bathinda resulted in a significant narcotics recovery and the arrest of two men linked to interstate drug smuggling. Acting on intelligence, teams stationed near the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University stopped a car on Saturday, initially uncovering a substantial quantity of opium. Bathinda City SP Narinder Singh declared that the total recovery reached 6.5 kg after one of the detainees provided information leading to a secondary cache.
The police identified the men in custody as Jagsir Singh of Mansa and Mohinder Singh of Jassi Pauwali. During the processing of the case at the Canal Colony police station, investigators mentioned that Jagsir Singh has a documented criminal history involving similar offenses. SP Narinder Singh stated that the accused had brought the contraband from Rajasthan and confirmed that the main suspect was already facing multiple cases and convictions.
The duo is currently being held under a three-day remand following their court appearance on Sunday. Law enforcement maintained that they are working to identify the local recipients intended for the Rajasthan-sourced haul. The SP asserted that the department remains vigilant against traffickers attempting to use border routes to smuggle narcotics into the district.
