Rajpura, Feb 13: Punjab is set to sharpen its fight against organized crime with a first-of-its-kind police station in Rajpura that will operate without territorial restrictions. The facility will serve as the primary operational base for the Anti-Gangster Task Force to manage complex cases involving interstate and international criminal links.

The government’s decision, formalized through a Gazette notification, marks a shift toward a more centralized and mobile law enforcement strategy. This development coincides with the second phase of “Operation Prahar,” which has recently seen thousands of raids conducted across various districts to disrupt the financial backbone of prominent gangs.

DGP Gaurav Yadav noted that the department is moving against properties suspected to be proceeds of crime and tracking extortion money trails. He said the force is committed to rooting out the logistics and arms supply chains that allow these syndicates to function.

“We are tracking foreign-based handlers through specialized cells and tightening checks in jails,” an official mentioned regarding the ongoing strategy. The new station at Rajpura will coordinate these efforts, providing a unified platform for intelligence sharing and rapid response across all 23 districts of Punjab.
