MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 24 – YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, appeared at the Maharashtra Cyber Cell headquarters in Navi Mumbai on Monday, marking his first public appearance since the controversy over his remarks on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
He was accompanied by fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, both of whom recorded their statements in connection with the case.
According to the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, Allahbadia and Chanchlani had voluntarily contacted officials, requesting to submit their statements. “Summons had been issued to both, and they appeared today to record their statements,” the agency said, as quoted by ANI.
The controversy erupted after Allahbadia’s remarks about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s show went viral earlier this month, sparking widespread backlash, multiple FIRs, and even a discussion in Parliament. The episode in question, which also featured content creators Apoorva Mukhija (The Rebel Kid) and comedian Jaspreet Singh, was later removed by Raina amid mounting pressure.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) had summoned Allahbadia, Raina, Mukhija, Chanchlani, and others for questioning on February 17 in New Delhi. However, after they failed to appear, the commission issued fresh hearing dates. Meanwhile, FIRs were registered against Allahbadia in Maharashtra and Assam.
On February 18, the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to Allahbadia but strongly criticized his remarks, calling them “vulgar” and “shameful.”
Justice Surya Kant remarked, “There is something very dirty in his mind that has been vomited by him in this kind of a program. Why should the court entertain this kind of person?”
With legal scrutiny intensifying, the fallout from the India’s Got Latent controversy continues to unfold, drawing both public and legal attention.
