Tarn Taran, April 2: The Punjab Government has sanctioned 28 new vehicles for the Tarn Taran police department, a move aimed at bolstering the security apparatus of the sensitive border region. This addition brings the total number of vehicles dedicated to the emergency response system to 34, up from a previous fleet of only six.
SSP Surinder Lamba, while addressing police personnel on Thursday, maintained that the arrival of these units would drastically reduce the time it takes for help to reach citizens. Previously, response times in rural border areas could take up to 30 minutes, while urban areas averaged 10 to 12 minutes. Under the new logistics plan, the SSP affirmed that teams are now expected to reach rural scenes within 10 minutes and urban locations within five.
To further strengthen the initiative, the department has increased the manpower assigned to these mobile units. Officials asserted that each vehicle will be manned by two to three personnel during day shifts, while the night deployment will increase to four or five personnel per vehicle to handle late-night security challenges.
The SSP stated that the primary objective of this enhanced system is to ensure the safety of common citizens. He declared that the department remains committed to safeguarding lives, and these resources are a vital step in improving overall police performance across the district.
