Chandigarh, April 30 — Punjab Police have registered a case against rapper Badshah following a complaint alleging that his latest song, Velvet Flow, contains lyrics that hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community.

The case was filed at Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala on Tuesday based on a complaint by Emanual Masih, a representative of the Global Christian Action Committee, according to Station House Officer (SHO) Gurvinder Singh.

Masih accused the artist of using the words “church” and “Bible” in a disrespectful and objectionable manner in the song. “Such references have deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community,” Masih stated in his complaint.

“An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,” SHO Singh confirmed on Wednesday.

In response to the controversy, members of the Christian community also staged a protest in Batala on Tuesday, demanding action against the rapper and the removal of the song from digital platforms.

The police have begun further investigation into the matter. Badshah has not yet issued a public statement regarding the allegations.
