RCB, who started the season brilliantly with two consecutive wins, suffered defeat in their first home match. This defeat dashed their hopes of a hat-trick of wins.

RCB lost the toss and batted first and scored 169 for 8 in 20 overs. Liam Livingstone scored a half-century of 54 runs to take the team to a respectable score, while Jitesh Sharma (33) and Tim David (32) made useful contributions. However, big names like Virat Kohli (7 runs), captain Rajat Patidar (12 runs) and Devdutt Padikkal (0) failed. Gujarat fast bowler Mohammed Siraj performed brilliantly and took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs and prevented RCB from scoring a big score.
In reply, Gujarat Titans achieved the target of 170 runs in 17.5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Sai Sudarshan started with a quick innings of 49 runs in 36 balls, while Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 73 off 39 balls. Buttler hit 5 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. Captain Shubman Gill got out cheaply after scoring 14 runs, but Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford (30* runs in 18 balls) did not give any chance. GT completed the chase with as many as 13 balls to spare. Among the RCB bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood took 1-1 wickets, but they could not avoid defeat.
Siraj’s brilliance
Mohammed Siraj showed amazing performance against his old team RCB. He dismissed Kohli and Padikkal in the powerplay to reduce Bengaluru to 42/4. His pace and accuracy kept Gujarat in the game.
