Ludhiana, March 9– Rescue teams have been working for 20 hours after a factory collapsed in Phase 8, Focal Point, on Saturday evening. Over a dozen workers have been pulled from the debris, but two remain unaccounted for.
One worker, identified as Jitender from Bihar, was found dead when retrieved from the rubble. The missing individuals, Bunty (37) from Ludhiana and Lallan Yadav from Bihar, are still feared trapped. Their families have been stationed outside the factory since last night, waiting anxiously for updates.
“NDRF teams have been working through the night to clear the debris cautiously,” said Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal. “We remain hopeful that the trapped workers will be found alive.”
The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. during renovation work when the ground floor’s roof caved in, bringing down the upper floors and causing the entire structure to collapse.
