Adampur, Feb 2: Adampur police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old woman for allegedly sharing a video on social media that contained offensive remarks toward Sant Niranjan Dass and the Prime Minister. The arrest of Hardeep Kaur, a resident of Jandu Singha, occurred shortly after the Prime Minister’s weekend visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan.

Authorities initiated the legal process following a protest by members of the Ravidassia community. Led by Joginder Singh, head of the local Guru Ravidass Gurdwara, the group gathered outside the Adampur police station on Sunday night to demand immediate intervention. The police subsequently registered an FIR under Section 153B of the IPC, which pertains to acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

The controversy began when Kaur posted a video as her WhatsApp status expressing frustration over traffic restrictions. She claimed she was unable to procure medicine for her daughter because of the high-security road closures during the Prime Minister’s visit to meet the Dera chief.

“The woman used extremely foul language against the saint,” said Inspector Ravinder Pal, SHO of Adampur. He noted that the content was seen as an attempt to provoke people and stir religious controversy. The officer mentioned that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
