Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, May 6 — Punjab Police on Tuesday seized a cache of arms and explosives—including two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), five hand-grenades, and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs)—from a forested area in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the recovery was made during an intelligence-based joint operation with a central agency near Tibba Nangal Kular Road. A wireless communication set was also seized from the site.
“Preliminary probe indicates a coordinated operation by Pakistan’s ISI and allied terror outfits to revive sleeper cells in Punjab,” Yadav posted on X.
A case has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar, and investigations are underway to track the operatives linked to the cache.
Police sources said the recovery has once again raised the ongoing efforts by foreign-backed groups to destabilize Punjab through cross-border terror supply chains.
