New Delhi, March 22 — The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday dismissed speculation of friction with the BJP over the delay in the party’s presidential election.
Addressing reporters at the All India Pratinidhi Sabha, the RSS’s highest decision-making body, joint general secretary Arun Kumar said the BJP is free to elect its president, adding that the RSS collaborates with the party on matters of national interest and nation-building.
He clarified that all 32 RSS affiliates function independently with their own internal election processes.
On the BJP’s delayed presidential poll, Kumar said, “There is no friction between us. The BJP’s organisational election process is underway, and the president’s election will take place in due course. Wait for a few days, and things will become clear.”
The BJP’s presidential election, initially slated for January, has been delayed, with current president JP Nadda continuing on an extension.
Kumar added that if the BJP seeks RSS support in suggesting a swayamsevak for the role, the Sangh considers the request, provided a suitable candidate is available.
