Chandigarh/Mohali, March 25: Rural residents in the district are raising serious concerns over a domestic LPG crisis characterized by significant delivery delays and a perceived lack of parity with urban services. While city dwellers continue to receive door-to-door cylinder deliveries, villagers affirmed that they are often forced to abandon their morning labor to wait in lengthy queues for essential fuel.
The disparity has fueled growing resentment among the rural population, who declared that their areas are being overlooked in the current distribution chain. Reports from various sectors indicate that wait times for a single cylinder have stretched beyond a week, more than doubling the standard three-to-four-day delivery window typically expected by consumers.
Beyond the domestic sphere, the shortage has begun to impact critical infrastructure, including hospitals and industrial units that rely on commercial gas supplies. Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman stated that the administration has reviewed the ongoing situation to address these supply bottlenecks. The official maintained that the concerns of the public are a priority and that relevant departments have been instructed to implement more effective distribution strategies.
“The problems faced by the consumers are being taken seriously,” Dhiman asserted while addressing the logistical hurdles. He also declared that a dedicated control room is available for residents to report specific grievances, ensuring that local issues can be resolved in a timely manner.
