MOHALI, Sept. 5 — High-risk pregnancies may come with added challenges, but they do not mean losing hope, said Dr. Ekaavali Gupta, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Motherhood Hospital, Sector 62, Mohali. Speaking at a program this week, she stressed that with proper monitoring, individualized care, and trust in doctors, safe deliveries are very much possible.

“It is my utmost duty to provide extra care and ensure a safe outcome for high-risk pregnancies,” Dr. Gupta said. “With the right guidance, most complications can be overcome, and a healthy delivery is completely possible.”

She explained that pregnancies are termed high risk when complications threaten the health of the mother, the baby, or both. Conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disorders, heart disease, multiple pregnancies (twins or triplets), advanced maternal age, or a history of miscarriage and caesarean delivery often fall into this category. “These cases demand closer monitoring, regular check-ups, and treatment tailored to the mother’s needs,” she noted.

At her Mohali clinic, Dr. Gupta said she frequently meets women who arrive anxious about their pregnancies due to these risks. Her message to them remains consistent: “High risk does not mean you should lose hope. With awareness, regular follow-ups, and confidence in your doctor, we can overcome the biggest challenges.”

Patients who have been treated by Dr. Gupta echoed this trust, crediting her care for their positive outcomes. Families across Mohali and the Tricity region say her guidance during critical pregnancies has helped them through difficult times. Many couples, after safe delivery of their first child, return to her clinic for second pregnancies.

“If on earth a doctor is called the second form of God, then for us that is Dr. Ekaavali Gupta,” one couple said, reflecting the sentiments of several patients. They added that her hands-on care during complicated pregnancies gave them confidence to expand their families without hesitation.

The doctor’s commitment is not only medical but also emotional, as she often celebrates healthy deliveries with her patients. Photographs from the event showed Dr. Gupta holding newborn babies in her lap, smiling as she shared the joy with their families.
