Mohali Kings Join PCA for Major Sher-e-Punjab T20 League Launch

CHANDIGARH, August 9—All-rounder Sanvir Singh emerged as the highest pick during the opening half of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League auction, joining the Fazilka Falcons for 13.20 lakh rupees. The selection gives Sanvir the chance to share the field with marquee player and Indian national team captain Shubman Gill.

Punjab Cricket Association President Amarjit Singh Mehta affirmed that extensive efforts were made in tandem with the state leadership to bring the league to fruition. He maintained that every domestic cricketer aspires to play at the iconic Mohali stadium, and the league provides an ideal platform for talent across the state to gain exposure and demonstrate their skills on a grander stage.

 

In other prominent bids, Amritsar Soormas secured Naman Dhir for 10.80 lakh rupees, while Mohali Kings added Anmolpreet Singh to their roster for 8.20 lakh rupees. Bathinda Royals brought in both Harnoor Singh and Ashwani Kumar for 7 lakh rupees each, and Jalandhar Warriors acquired Sukhdeep Bajwa for 6 lakh rupees. Further picks included Harpreet Brar moving to Mohali Kings for 4 lakh rupees and Mayank Markande joining Amritsar Soormas for 1.50 lakh rupees.

PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer stated that the initial bidding rounds clearly demonstrated the rich pool of cricket talent across Punjab. He asserted that franchises showed immense enthusiasm in backing potential stars, adding that Sanvir Singh playing alongside Shubman Gill will prove invaluable for his growth.

Organized by the Punjab Cricket Association, the tournament features six regional teams: Fazilka Falcons, Amritsar Soormas, Ludhiana Lions, Jalandhar Warriors, Mohali Kings, and Bathinda Royals. Top domestic figures, including Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Gurnoor Brar, serve as marquee players, each drafted for 10 lakh rupees to help elevate the state’s cricketing ecosystem.
